Journal's structure

1. Journal Sections

ANTEC is organized into five sections: Editorial, La Antara de esta edición, Dossier, Research Articles, and Reviews. Of these, the Dossier, Research Articles, and Reviews sections consist of manuscripts submitted through the journal's open calls for papers. The Editorial and La Antara de esta edición sections are intended to introduce each issue and comprise content prepared by the journal's Editorial Team.

Regarding the distribution of contents, approximately 80% of each issue is devoted to research articles, while the remaining content is distributed among the journal's other academic sections.

The three types of manuscript submissions accepted by the journal, shown in the following figure, correspond to the Dossier, Research Articles, and Reviews sections. These manuscripts are received through the journal's published calls for papers and are subject to the journal's evaluation and external peer-review processes.

2. Publication Frequency

ANTEC: Revista Peruana de Investigación Musical is a biannual publication that publishes two regular issues each year, corresponding to the January–June and July–December periods.

Each issue may include a thematic dossier devoted to the study and critical reflection on topics, movements, composers, historical contexts, or specific musical manifestations of particular interest to the academic and artistic communities.

In addition, ANTEC may exceptionally publish special issues dedicated to commemorative events, academic projects, or topics of particular relevance to the scholarly and musical communities.

All manuscripts published in thematic dossiers and special issues must comply with the same editorial policies, ethical principles, and peer-review procedures established for the journal's regular issues, according to the type of manuscript submitted.

3. Author Guidelines and Manuscript Submission

Submitted manuscripts must comply strictly with these Author Guidelines. Before submitting a manuscript, authors are encouraged to review this guide in its entirety. Manuscripts must be submitted through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform. All submissions must conform to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA), Seventh Edition.

The journal is intended for the national and international academic community, particularly the following groups:

5. Publication Areas of Focus

The journal aims to provide an open academic forum for the dissemination of research in music, supported by a peer-review process. It seeks to strengthen and promote the circulation of musical knowledge across diverse human contexts through an open, accessible, original, and interdisciplinary approach. Likewise, it encompasses various thematic areas related to musical practice, including the following:

Music Performance: techniques, styles, and interpretive approaches in diverse musical genres.
Music Creation: musical composition and production, as well as new techniques for sound creation.
Musicology: history, theory, and analysis of music, with emphasis on its cultural and social contexts.
Music and the Humanities: relationships between music and anthropology, sociology, philosophy, and psychology.
Music and Aesthetics: music as a form of aesthetic expression, with emphasis on its emotional, symbolic, and artistic impact.
Music and Communication Media: forms of musical communication through diverse platforms and media, as well as its role in social communication.
Music and Technology: the impact of technologies on musical creation, production, dissemination, and performance.
Music in Interdisciplinary Practice: relationships between music and other arts, such as film, theater, dance, and multimedia media.
