Abstract

Among the works awarded in the musicology competition of the Casa de las Américas of Cuba, the one that obtained the highest distinction in 2018 is the one prepared by the musicologist Alejandro Vera, one of our distinguished Latin American researchers, and author of relevant contributions to the knowledge of the music of the viceregal period. El dulce reato de la música. La vida musical en Santiago de Chile durante el periodo colonial (The Sweet Reason of Music. Musical Life in Santiago de Chile during the Colonial Period) addresses, from a broad perspective, the events of one of the cities with the greatest musical life during the 17th and 18th centuries.
