This is a compilation of testimonies of close experiences with the teacher Américo Valencia Chacón (1946–2019) in different fields of his work. The authors summoned, Wálter Rodríguez Vásquez, Miguel Oblitas Bustamante, Ricardo López Alcas, Carlos Sánchez Huaringa, Omar Ponce Valdivia and Juan Ahón Vargas, operate in different cultural spheres, institutions, places and social spaces, their autobiographical texts, and allow us to recognize the contributions of the remembered maestro to the various fields of music in the country such as musicology, research into Peruvian music, musical teaching and training, artistic production as a director and composer and the dissemination of traditional music. The appreciation of these contributions, made over more than fifty years, is a posthumous recognition of his fruitful career as a researcher, artist and teacher after his recent death.
Each of the stories emphasizes a specific field, thus the text in its entirety will contribute to the recognition of the important milestones in the life of the notable musicologist by the following generations, without failing to highlight that these are not enough in the face of the magnitude of his work.
