Abstract

This Future is Another Future is a text originally written as a doctoral dissertation by José Ignacio López Ramírez Gastón to obtain the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Music at the University of California, San Diego, in 2020. The text is subtitled The Role of Social Discourse in the [Sub] Development of Electronic Music in Peru, and perhaps this is a phrase that reveals more about the content of this text than its own title. Indeed, the author investigates the influence (often negative) that narratives about the Peruvian nation and identity have on the acceptance and promotion of electronic music in our country.
