Abstract

Among his most recent publications and contributions to musical literature, the Associação Cultural Ruspoli, based in São Paulo, Brazil, and the Centro Studi e Richerche Santa Giacinta Marescotti, based in Italy, published through the Libreria Musicale Italiana an important album of works by the Peruvian composer Pedro Ximénez Abrill Tirado. The musician was born in Arequipa around 1784 and was a renowned composer of sacred vocal music and salon music, as a guitarist and cellist. Recently, his chamber works and more than thirty symphonies were discovered, a corpus that constitutes a unique case in all of America at the beginning of the 19th century.
